Blazers In College One of the most important things the Blazer organization tries to accomplish is getting our student-athletes to college.
Our goal is during their time in the organization they can develop their skills enough to carry them into the next phase of
their athletic career. During the Spring of 2012 the Blazer organization has 10 players participating at various college levels.
Below is a list of players still continuing as student-athletes at the next level: Austin
Burgert - Northwest Missouri State University Travis Brown - Harris Stowe State University Brian Burwell - Quincy
University Colby White - Maryville University Kyle Tipton - Fontbonne University Alek Ferbet - Missouri Western
University (Football) Jake Rethmeyer - Mineral Area Community College Troy Henning - Lindenwood University - Belleville Trey Meier - Lindenwood University - Belleville Jake Peppers - Lindenwood University - Belleville
Team Photo Day On Sunday, May 6th the Jefferson County Blazers will have a team/individual photo day at Fox High School at 6:30pm.
All teams should be at Fox baseball field a little before 6:30 to ensure we get started on time. All teams should wear turf
shoes, navy socks, white pants, navy belt, a navy tshirt, and Blazer hat. All players will receive their personalized jersey
that day for the picture. All players should have received a picture order form at the uniform handout.
St. Louis Cardinal Tickets for Fundraising To celebrate SLABA's 25th anniversery, SLABA and the Cardinals have teamed up for a fundraising
opportunity. On Thursday, May 24th the St. Louis Cardinals host the Philadelphia Phillies. The match up of the Phillies
and Cardinals brings extra meaning to SLABA as three SLABA alumni will be participating in the game. David Freese and Kyle
McClellan of the Cardinals and Ryan Howard of the Phillies both played in the SLABA league as high school athletes. A little
known fact is that David Freese joined the Jefferson County Blazers for their 2001 post-season campaign that landed
them in San Jose, California. Each player has a chance to sell tickets for this game and receive a portion of the ticket sales
back to thier summer fee. The face value shown on each ticket is $37.00, but each player can sell individual tickets for just $15.00
to any person wanting to attend the game that night. For every ticket that a Blazer player sells they will receive $5.00 toward
their summer fees. How do you sell the tickets? On April 15th when teams meet to receive uniforms, you may turn in money for
tickets sold for the Cardinal game. You are free to begin selling the tickets immediately and collecting the $15.00 for each
ticket sold, and then on April 15th you can turn in the money for the number of tickets you have sold and receive the actual
ticket for the game. Again, any tickets given out on April 15th will need to be paid for up front.
2012 Mouse Races A Great Success! The Blazers organization wants to thank every person that attended and helped
make the 2012 mouse races a success! Each player will recieve a credit of $26.00 for every ticket they sold. Any families
that brought a raffle item will be credited the exact amount of blue raffle tickets that were placed in the bag for your
item. All of this money will be credited to the players and a remaining balance will be provided for each player at uniform
handouts.
Tournaments To Be Announced Summer 2012 schedule of games and tournaments are starting to be finalized for
the various age groups. As the tournaments and league schedules are completed, we will be placing them under the schedule
tab for each individual team found on the left side of the home page. We encourage all to check back often, as tournaments
are being added weekly to help famililes plan for the summer. In addition to the schedule, the hotel reservations will be
completed and placed under the "Hotel Info" tab on the left side of the page. Please remember that when parents
are making reservations that your son will be staying in a room seperate from you. Parents should only make a reservation
for yourself, the team will take care of the room for the players. Again, check back often as we will be updating the schedule
as we finalize the registration process.

Varsity Blazers Win a Piece of the Title Heading into the final two weeks of the season the Blazers 18U needed to win the
final 8 games of the league schedule and get a little help to claim a piece of the SLABA League title. With their backs against
the wall the varsity did just that, first knocking off the 1st and 2nd place team at the time in back to back days in the
Eagles and Stallions. After another Stallions loss over the weekend, the stage was set for the Blazers to make a run to win
a piece of the title. Starting the week with a 19-18 win over Johnny Mac they then completed the task of winning 6 games in
5 days to win the SLABA league crown. The players really showed some guts and heart just like the expectations of every Blazer
that puts the JC on their chest. Congrats to the Varsity Blazers!
Two Blazers Selected by
Post-Dispatch The St. Louis
Post-Dispatch selects a couple of athletes each week from the metro area as athletes of the week. In the last two consecutive
weeks the Blazers organization has had an athlete chosen. The first player chosen was Brady Politte from the 16U Blazers who
hit 6 homeruns in one week of action. The second Blazer chosen was Trey Meier who in the first week of the the season had
15 RBI's for the Varsity Blazers. Each of these athletes are very deserving of this recognition and do an outstanding job
of representing the JC on the chest of their jersey. Congrats Men!!! Click Here for Link to Politte Article Click Here for Link to Meier Article
